I really like this illustration - works perfectly, I dont think you need the spike collar - and then again why does the cross need to be upside down? Maybe if you made it an over religious bear/kitschy that would work better than a satanic bear
Don't think you need the spike collar and the cross needs to be right side up- sort of confusing that it's upside down? Otherwise its perfect and cuddly!

upsidedown cross is a great symbol that works here, but counteractive to your meaning

Maybe its eyes could just be white circles instead of the haggard look you got going there.
